The site "makeuseof" have offered free computing guides and cheat sheets for some time. However, up to now you either had to subscribe and wait to be invited to download certain titles or you had to fill in an on-line, multifield form which seemed to want to know a lot about your business.

Now they are available for download, free and without fuss. Their site states:

"We are testing a new download system that doesn't require a password or newsletter subscription. If you prefer this way, please consider sharing this guide with your friends; this will help us to make more awesome free guides in the future."

I take this as "use it or lose it"

Currently, there are 50+ guides covering OS's, some major applications and much else. There are also 35+ cheat sheets covering popular apps, etc.
