Magic Folder Icon is worth installing for when you want to differentiate particular folders. The interface is clear, you can add a hover-over infotip if you want, and it doesn't store the icon in the folder - which I prefer, though if you want other PCs to see your custom icons over a network or whatever you will need um, a different app.
As my main folder icon utility I use iColorFolder which supports themes (in a DLL) and the context menu, but Magic Folder Icon is handy if you need a particular icon that isn't in your theme.
A keeper.
