Enhancements
Currency Converter
- In response to a user suggestion, implemented a Currency Converter (Utilities > Currency Converter). When invoked, the Currency Converter automatically downloads up-to-date currency conversion rates from the European Central Bank (ECB).
Easter Dates
- Added some new functionality (Dates > Easter Dates) concerning the date of Easter in the Gregorian and Julian calendars. It may be used (a) to find the date of Easter in either calendar system for any specified year and (
to list the years in which Easter occurs on a specified date.
Out-of-Date Reminders
- You may now list out-of-date reminders directly in Calendar Magic (Reminders > List Out-of-Date Reminders), avoiding the need to use a separate text editor to examine the contents of the file purged.dat.
- Out-of-date reminders are listed in reverse date order with the most recent at the top of the list.
Main Screen Find Capability
- In connection with the above, a main screen find function is now available for finding occurrences of specified text strings. To initiate a new search, use the Ctrl+F key combination and input the text to be found. Use the “Find Next” button to run through the various occurrences. Alternatively, having found the first occurrence, exit the search form and press the F3 function key repeatedly.
New Version Check
- You can now check (Help > Check for Updates) if a new version of Calendar Magic is available.
Biorhythm Calculator
- In response to another user suggestion, implemented additional biorhythm functionality in the form of a Biorhythm Calculator (Utilities > Biorhythm Calculator). However, users of this calculator should be aware that many scientific experts regard the theory of biorhythms as a dubious pseudo-science.
Input to the calculator consists of a date of birth and a target date.
- Biorhythm results can then be calculated for the target date or, alternatively, a 28-day biorhythm plot may be generated starting from the target date.
Religious Festivals
- The listing of Baha’i religious festivals has been updated and improved.
“Options > Calendar” Menu Item
- The name of this menu item has been changed to Options > General and the title of the corresponding form has been changed from “Calendar Options”
- to “General Options”. This name change provides a more logical place in which to add the two new options described below.
Opening Screen
- You may now choose the screen (form) displayed initially when Calendar Magic is opened via a new option “Opening Screen” (Options > General > Opening Screen). For example, if you frequently use the Scientific Calculator, you may use this option to have it immediately displayed whenever Calendar Magic is opened.
Favourite Calendar System
- Added a new option “Favourite Calendar System” (Options > General > Favourite Calendar System). As suggested by a user, this option allows the specification of the calendar system to be displayed initially when Year Calendars and Month Calendars are invoked.
Calendar Comparison
- Satisfying another user request, the left and right calendar names are now “sticky” values. There is one exception to this – any use of the French Revolutionary calendar is not remembered.
