This is an editor / midi sequencer totally free and open source. Created under the GNU LGPL terms is, to my knowledge, the only of its kind. It's a really good editor with many features comparable to the best ever created, such as Cakewalk. Its developer, Kuzu, has been improving over the years, so Seikaiju is, in my view, one of the best options for those who create music and use Windows. Trust me, it's really cool.
now it is Sekaiju v2.9.
Oops! I'll update right now! Thanks for the tip ;)
I've just tried Sekaiju for the first time and it looks like just the thing I need as a music writer. Very comprehensive, and it works straight out of the box - no MIDI setups to do. As well as an easy-to-use direct MIDI editor there's a musical notation editor, which is also simple to use and means you can transcribe score-to-midi without a lot of messing about. When you first run it, it defaults to Japanese but just go to 'Setup/Language' on the menu bar. A great download if you have anything to do with music. No complaints from me and 5*****

It's a good old school sequencer. As the old Cakewalk. They are the best. Now, where is the Cakewalk today? Disappeared. You do not find to download. And Sekaiju is free. I really like this program.
