Description
Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured browser for Windows that makes browsing more efficient than ever before. Firefox includes pop-up blocking; a tab-browsing mode that lets you open several pages in a single window; integrated Google searching; simplified privacy controls that let you cover your tracks more effectively; a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser; and a number of additional features that work with you to help you get the most out of your time online.

Additional features include
  • Live Bookmarks - RSS integration lets you read the latest news headlines and read updates to your favorite sites that are syndicated.
  • Extensions - Small add-ons that add new functionality to your Mozilla program.
  • Themes - Allows you to change the way your Mozilla program looks with new graphics and colors.
  • Privacy and Security - Built with your security in mind, Firefox keeps your computer safe from malicious spyware by not loading harmful ActiveX controls.
  • Plugins - Programs that allow websites to provide content to you and have it appear in your browser.
Firefox also comes with a standard set of developer tools including a powerful Javascript and CSS error/warning console, and an optional Document Inspector that gives detailed insight about your pages.

I do not see much of real difference in performance from version 7.0 to this one (9.0 B-4). Personally I switched to Chrome after Firefox 7.0.1 mostly because of slow performance, high system's resources consumption, lack of support for Google Toolbar, huge inconsistencies and incompatibilities with extensions, a too fast changing browser, lack of serious support,... Hey, fast changes does not mean necessarily meaningful and useful changes, just changes for the sake of change not to improve. Chrome is safe, a lot faster than Firefox, highly customizable (although it could use more flexibility), most of the preferred extensions on Firefox have been ported to Chrome, good support for Web Apps, etc. It is a good idea to keep Firefox handy, just is case, but not anymore as the primary browser.
Do NOT download FF 9.0, major security flaw discovered on ALL platforms. (Windows, OSX and Linux)
FF 9.0.1 uploaded now to Mozilla's FTP servers, give it 24 hours than FF 9.0.1 should be widely available.

Additionally, massive numbers of Netflix users report streaming is broken with FF 9.0

Full changelog:

notables: big upgrades to JavaScript engine and Ajax.
10 Final is a massive update. This is the Fox we've all been waiting for. Finally, the extension/plug-in model is updated to reflect Firefox's fast-track updates. No more "your extensions are not compatible with this version." {in my testing, the new plugin model is only partially fixed.}

Firefox now claims boldly the memory issues are finally addressed. Translation: if you leave your FF running for several days, it will not consume a couple exabytes of ram. {time will tell}

Continued HTML5 upgrades and big improvements to WebGL. The latter is in fact a big deal if you have a decent GPU with latest drivers.

Overall, many, many bugs fixed:

Cannot believe the difference between v9 and v10 on my machine - v10 is MUCH faster. Mozilla you are now getting somewhere!!!!
Administrator, I know you strongly discourage hotlinking, forgive me for being a little bold as freewarebb.com does not offer older versions of Firefox.

update 28 for 3.6 branch is available directly from Mozilla, bumping it up to 3.6.28
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html (not supported)

update 6 for 10 branch is now available directly from Mozilla, bumping it up to 10.0.6 ESR Edition.
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all.html

Anyone using older versions of Firefox must update for essential security fixes.

Please note: Firefox 3.0 and 3.5 and 3.6 branches have all reached end of life henceforth are no longer supported.
To avoid complications, you must completely uninstall or delete any older version of Firefox, reboot, then install the latest version. Users who are running Windows XP service pack 2 or older should NOT update to Firefox 15. Use ESR Edition only.

Fox 15 changes:

highlights: built-in PDF support, fix high memory issues with poorly coded addons, full support for google's spdy project. Spdy protocol may one day usher in a new Internet!
Getting better, much faster than the most recent releases. Nice smooth feel to it. A definite improvement.
