When we last updated Mozilla Firefox we scanned it using VirusTotal and checked the developers site was not listed negatively with any of the reputable site advisory sites such as WOT or SiteAdvisor. We pride ourselves on safe downloads from honest and trustworthy developersMarko - I've received reports from a trusted source who has been testing FF 4 Beta that is not much of an improvement. Rendering speeds seem around the same and resource usage remains high.
I hope my source is wrong!!!!

I know I did have issues with FF in the past Jimbo, things seemed to have settled down now though, will be giving the Beta a whirl a little later so will post back then
Cheers

Hmm, curiosity just got the better of me Jim and I decided to give it a test drive right now - first impressions, well, does seem a little nippier for me - on install the beta version did inform me that a couple of my extensions were not supported so this could 'theoretically' be what is making the browser seem a little faster, but navigating around FreewareBB and a few other regular sites does definitely seem somewhat snappier!.
From the splash page of FF Beta ... "Firefox 4 now includes major performance enhancements, including our brand new JägerMonkey JavaScript engine. From faster start up times and graphics rendering to improved page load speed, you'll notice the difference instantly."
Well, for me, I'd have to agree for now, starting up FireFox does seem much faster as well, so for the moment it's full marks from me

Excellent news Marko!!! Thanks for taking the trouble....you put me to shame!
Of course, I do not know the exact conditions under which my 'source' is testing. May be that she (yes, it is a female) has 74 add-ons installed and 16 tabs open.

8th. Beta due out in about a week.
substantial {core} changes expected.

I found the acceleration just when you start your browser. Turn off three extensions. No further improvement is not noticed.
