When we last updated Microsoft Security Essentials we scanned it using VirusTotal and checked the developers site was not listed negatively with any of the reputable site advisory sites such as WOT or SiteAdvisor. We pride ourselves on safe downloads from honest and trustworthy developers
Just updated to v.4.0.1526.0, and I must say the new interface is now very simple in appearance. Must be trying to fit into that Windows 8 mode.
Got put onto this by FBB a year or few ago, and like any antivirus it isn't the total solution, but MSSE seems to mark the point where Microsoft started doing more things right than wrong:)
