PeerAware is an easy to use group chat program. It is just like an instant messaging tool, but lets you create your own chat group where hundreds of users can chat and share files in real-time.   Shared documents, spreadsheets and presentations are indexed by content and shared from your computer. Distributed search helps you find, browse and download shared files.

Your own group chat
It takes seconds to start a group chat that is both password protected and encrypted. This ensures that only registered users can participate in your workspace. Once connected you can chat both in groups and one-on-one.

Private file sharing
Share as many documents as you like without limitations to file type or size. You can search, browse and download files shared by any other user. It is easy to view shared photos in a slideshow.

Powerful search
Find documents shared by team members with the distributed search functionality. When you submit your search request, all member's shared documents are searched by key words, and the top results are returned back to you.

Group chat
All communication in PeerAware is initiated from the group chat area of a workspace. You can discuss anything with hundreds of people at once. If the group chat area becomes too crowded it is easy to initiate a one-on-one conversation where you can continue the discussion in private. Share articles, addresses and links by pasting them into the chat area. Emoticons can help you express yourself when text messages are insufficient. If you need to visualize anything, a shared whiteboard makes that easy.

Open source and customizable
All scripts in PeerAware are open source and can be customized by editing the html, css and javascript files. A tutorial shows you how you can create your own p2p application on top of PeerAware using open standards and web technology. The shared whiteboard is one example of how you can create distributed applications with PeerAware as a starting point.
