Kantaris is an all new media player based on code from Videolan client (VLC) and Bass audio library. Kantaris has a graphical user interface similar to that of Windows Media Player.
Kantaris can play almost anything you can throw at it -- AVI, MPEG, MGEG-AVC, WMV, MOV, MKV, quicktime, matroska, divx, xvid, H264, MP3, WMA, OGG files and more. Kantaris can also play DVD´s and audio cd´s. The player also displays some of the most beautiful music vizualisations ever seen. All this is completely free.

"Kantaris Media Player 0.7.0" in title is really Kantaris LITE at 14.7MB dl.
Lite ver. has opencandy and other adware removed.

I would have to agree with the two star rating as Kantaris attempts to take absolute control or your audio/video playback. It really burns me when developers make you the user slave to the machine. VLC is much more tasteful and yes, many skins available at website.
