When we last updated HandBrake, we made sure it was still virus and malware free and the developer's site had no proven issues in any of the reputable site advisory services. In the unlikely event you notice any issues, please let us know immediately, otherwise we will schedule this software for another scan the next time it is updated.

curious only two stars...
probably because handbreak does not deal with copy protection.
Excellent otherwise.
Yes, 2 stars is probably a tad harsh. Handbrake does a pretty good job. Choice of output formats is rather limited though, they have dropped support for AVI from the latest versions.

I do not know of any free DVD ripper which deals with copy protection and, in a field where there are no real quality standouts, Handbrake is as good as any, better than most:

The Good: Very good quality output video. Cross platform. Small download. Good audio-video synchronization.

The Not So Good: Slow transcoding. Limited choice of output formats.
Remember guys, all members can vote otherwise, usually when I add a download I normally add a liberal rating of my initial findings just to kick start the voting - I will be creating a new page just shortly on how all members can participate on the site cause I think a lot of members are unsure and invision don't exactly make certain ratings and voting options very obvious!.   I'll announce the page when I've finished it :)
Cheers

Actually, had forgotten that Marko.....sorry.

It did say "2 votes" though, so someone else agreed with your initial assessment. :)

Is there any way to allow for casting of half votes? Handbrake is a typical example; I reckon it sits at 3 and a half stars but cannot allocate that score. 4 stars is a tad generous and 3 a smidgin harsh.

Cheers .......Jim (never happy) Hillier    LOL
It's not possible to rate in half's unfortunately Jimbo, but what happens with the voting is that it takes the "average" of all current votes.   For example, if I rated it 3 stars (which I did based on the fact that it does what it says it does, maybe could do better but nevertheless does perform it's function) and then someone else comes along and rates it with 1 star then the overall rating will probably sit at something like 2 stars.   If someone else then comes along and rates it with 4 stars it could then go from 2 stars to say, 3 stars.

Hope that makes sense mate :)
