This is the best single reference I have seen in any form when it comes to the Bible and Christian research. The best part is that the free literature covers more than just purely Biblical topics. Here are some of the downloads I recommend:

Dictionary of Christian Biography-Practically a roll call of 1st-5th century Christianity
History of the Christian Church-Lots of good information
Sketches of Jewish Social Life-Helpful look at Jewish culture
Maps
Dore's Woodcuts-Great pictures
Easton's Illustrated Dictionary-Amazing resource
Christ in Isaiah-Interesting topic
Types in Hebrews-Helps with this highly technical book

This is a reliable source of good knowledge wrapped up into one easy to use resource. There are lots of features that will make it easy to find difficult to find passages, and there are numerous free versions of the Bible available, including The American Standard and King James Versions. Copy and paste passages into text files that can be stored in the program.

Very good tool for studying the Bible and for doing Christian research.
Hello FS, have you also tried e-Sword? This is a very fine piece of software with an extensive range of free Bibles (in several languages) in addition to paid downloads from commercial publishers. Search feature is effective also. GUI is slightly dull but this is a serious Bible study tool and it is the content and cross-referencing that are the important features here. Downloading from the author's site could not be easier.

campart...thanks for the heads up. Sounds like almost the identical thing as Bible Explorer. I just realized I didn't mention that there are pay reference materials available for BE. Most of the books, pay and free, are books that can be found in a normal Chrisitan book store. Also, there are numerous cross references available in BE too, as with e Sword, such as Strong's Concordance (free) and others. It's really remarkable this program, and I am sure e Sword is equally so. Super empowering to have such information available always. Thanks again campart...
