Hey, Marko.  Looking at using a game booster program, and I ran across this article.  It's from way back in 2009, so it's outdated, but I thought it was worth a look.  IoBIT is/was the maker of a program called Game Booster and apparently the company hacked MalWareBytes.  Checked the present site of Game Booster and couldn't find any mention of IoBIT.  Here is the link to the article:

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=29681

Think I'm going to do with GBoost...

EDIT:  That was the site for Games Booster with an s on the end.  IoBIT still keeps Game Booster...

FS, I'm really not sure this is the same product is it?.   Personally, I'm not sure about these guys as it is, they do have a negative rating in WOT but besides that I've not heard anything particularly bad about them but as I say, I can't be sure this download is the same as the one produced by IOBit.
Sorry Marko.  I thought I found the Games Booster page with a Google search, but it must have been your link here.  Appear to be two different softwares, but I guess you are right.  Who knows?  The other one still exists, so IoBITS must have gotten past whatever it was that they supposedly did with MalWareBtytes' definitions.  I got confused because this one is curiously named Game Booster instead of Games Booster like on the author's site.

IoBITS looks totally legit on their web page.  According to the article it's out of China.  I don't quite get the grab.  I guess they have an anti-virus program or anti-malware that was the source of the disagreement.  Kind of a shame I think.  I've seen some reviews of their Game Booster software, and they are pretty good.

Anyway. haven't used this one, so I can't say if it's legit, but I will take a look and see what it's like.  Just hooked up GBoost which is a good program.  I will compare the two...
This product appears to be legit even though it goes by an almost identical name to the IoBITs program.  Looks good, too, but I just want a simple optimizer, so I chose to hold off on starting the optimizer feature.  Pretty sure it will ask me to allow system changes, and I don't want to risk changes I can't find to revert.  The game defrag feature is very nice and there are numerous other features.  This product is apparently a PCBooster product...different than the IoBITS software.  Again this looks like a good product.  Good visually and a full spectrum of nice features.

The IoBITs story is that they have an anit-malware program called IoBITs Malware Fighter PRO.  That sounds like maybe the source of the problem with MalWareBytes...some of the programming in MFP...

UPDATE 2-23-12 There does seem to be an issue with the uninstall feature.  At the end of an uninstall, the program says that not all the elements of the program have been removed (at least it says so).  However, the program folder remains in Program Files.  In that folder are just two icons.  Each of them starts a program, so apparently somewhere on my PC, the programs that were installed still exist.  I have no idea where.  Obviously, two icons is not a program, so must be in another folder.  Games Booster does not appear in my Add/Remove Programs menu in Control Panel after the uninstall.

Hmmm...time to start digging around I guess...

MORE 2-23-12 I reinstalled the program to see if I would be able to remove it with XP's native removal tool.   Uninstalling the program from Add/Remove programs seems to have done the trick. The program's uninstaller didn't go all the way apparently.  The program folder IS left behind in Program Files, however, but that is all...no files inside...

Committing this one to you Marko...no idea what to make of this issue...
FutureShock - many programs are repackaged and released by different companies - thus the similar names.
Many of these products can be linked back to INKLINE GLOBAL (negative ratings on WOT)
If you go to <URL REMOVED> and follow a few of the links you can gather some idea.
Thats why pcbooster.com, inkline global, uniblue, and iobit can issue programs with exact/similar names- they have the license to do so!
sorry, had to remove that URL even though you were making a point jjj, it's rated extremely negatively in WOT
Now you tell me...thanks triple j
